You’re invited to Olympia Assembly’s upcoming general assembly on November 4th 2019 at 3:00pm @ Mixx96 located at 119 Washington St NE.
Olympia Assembly is a libertarian socialist organization connecting people from a variety of backgrounds and political perspectives around the goal of building a People’s Assembly. According to Kali Akuno of Cooperation Jackson, a People’s Assembly is “first and foremost a mass gathering of people organized and assembled to address essential social issues and/or questions pertinent to the community”
Our general assemblies occur four times per year and are a place for community members to come together to discuss these social issues and radical (meaning getting to the root cause) solutions we can take to address them.
At this assembly, we’ll focus on having discussion around the projects Olympia Assembly and our partner organizations are already doing (for example, tenant organizing, direct action against ICE financiers, guerrilla gardening, and more). Those in attendance will also have an opportunity to suggest other issues to discuss and potentially plan projects around.
We would be thrilled to have you at our upcoming assembly and participating in these discussions: our goal is broad community engagement.
At 3:00 pm there will be a potluck and Olympia-based organizations will table the event and at 4:00 pm we’ll begin the assembly.
Hope to see you there!
